This is my favorite WAHOU recipe for the apéritif: salmon rolls with poppy seeds.
They are easy to make for a flashy result!
You know, in France the apéritif is something very important. It is the moment when you start eating, but it doesn’t count… you just do it while waiting for the real food. Some people say the apéritif is when you have a drink, but real foodies will tell you that it is just another excuse to eat more… By the way, if you want to learn just one sentence in French, it has to be “c’est l’heure de l’apéro” meaning “apéritif time”.
Anyway, let’s go back to this little salmon rolls recipe:
this is definitely one of my favorite aperitif recipe, not only because it is very good, but also because it looks flashy. I do it every time I want to impress my guests over a diner.
And it never fails… there is always someone to say WAHOU!! and it is delicious!
That is why I selected it for the cooking TV show I participated a few years ago. You know the french version of “come dine with me”. You don’t believe me? ok… have a look at the preview presenting my menu! You can also learn more about it in my “about” page.
Alright, now let’s go back again to this salmon rolls recipe…it made a very good impression… that was when Lââm (one of my famous guests) said she wanted to die eating it…
For the TV show, I wanted it to sparkle, so I cooked it with 3 different sesame seeds (beige, black and wasabi green).
Today, I will show you the poppy seed version, but if your prefer the coloured one, just use the seeds you like!
